Hey there! I’m Joe, also known as “SUP Garbage Man.” I’m just a dude with a paddle board who hauls trash out of our waterways...If I’m on the water, I’m collecting trash. No agendas. No shaming. No finger pointing. I’m just removing the stuff that doesn’t belong.
As a native Floridian I grew up in a small beach town on the Atlantic Ocean. I spent summers (and Florida winters) at the beach or boating on rivers and lakes. It wasn’t until 2013 that I tried my sea legs at paddle boarding and was instantly hooked. Since then, you’d be hard pressed to find me on a day that I wasn’t on the water or wishing I was. Having spent my childhood on the water, I gained an appreciation for the sense of freedom that comes from being afloat. In 2019, I began SUP Garbage Man to do something about the trash problem and pay respect to the waterways that have shaped my life. Check out the trash I put on social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) to see what just one person can do: @SUP.Garbage.Man (instagram.com/sup.garbage.man). You can also find out more about my efforts on my website: www.SUPGarbageMan.org.
See ya on the water and don’t be afraid to pick up the next piece of trash you find!
